National Endownment for the Humanities grant

In February 2007 the UCLA Library was awarded a grant of $346,117 from the National Endowment for the Humanities for the creation of catalog records, metadata, and an Encoded Archival Description (EAD) finding aid for 1,506 Persian and Arabic manuscripts in the Minasian collection. In addition, approximately 304 manuscripts (approximately 100,000 pages) will be digitized and mounted on the Internet.

The full narrative of the grant application is available for download as a PDF file. Access requires installation of the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Digitization of manuscripts is taking place at a rapid pace. As they are completed mansuscripts are being made available on a temporary website; see Browse Digitized Manuscripts on the menu to the left.
